Mini Blog: No. 1 | Online Storage Solutions

From now on, you'll occasionally see little mini blog posts like this instead of longer, more detailed posts (which we will do now about 2-3 times a month).

In this first mini-blog post, we will be talking about 2 services for online storage: Box.net and Dropbox. Both services offer similar features:

  • Online Storage
  • Folder and File sharing
  • Web services
  • Premium and Business subscriptions (paid)
Recently, Box.net released a 50 Day PROMO that allowed you to get 50gb of free online storage, forever, if you signed up through an iOS device. The reason for this was to battle against Apple's iCloud services.

50gb of free storage is a LOT of space, which for the stuff I upload online, like some computer backups and video files, and music is more than enough. I use a lot of online storage services (see other blog post for more details) like Dropbox to synchronise files with all of my computers and services like ADrive and from now on, Box.net to upload files to the cloud to get them far away from me if anything should happen to my computer. I have all of the master copies of TheGeekPanel logos and email templates etc. up in  the cloud for safety.

If you have any tips to pass along, email us or post a comment.

To sign up for Dropbox, you can get 250mb of extra space by using this link:  http://s-go.com/dropbox
