Why I like .COM and .NET over Other Domain Names

You've probably been handed a business card which has a somthing.co domain. You think to yourself  "Is that a typo?". That's what I would think. Domains ending in .CO are a prime target to spammers and "squatters" because of your ability to make typos while putting addresses into the URL bar. Google has been sensible by buying Google.co before any spammer gets it, but trust me, there are many other sites that have a domain squatter behind the controls!

My favourite domains are .COM and .NET. Domains with .COM are perfect for almost anything. These are my favourite. I like .COMs because:

    • They're easy to remember
    • everyone automatically types .COM even if they don't know what the suffix is
    • It looks good
    • It's the world standard
I like .NET if the .COM isn't available. It's good for networks of people like an FAQ or anything where .COM sounds out-of-place.

Of course there are .TV and other crap, but really... who uses .ME or something else?
