How Technology Could Affect your Future Dining Experience

People today are becoming more and more reliant on aspects of technology; for example, many people, including myself use a mobile device or a smartphone of some sort as our primary method of communication. Now, being what I am, a technology strategist, I use technology for a lot more than communicating.

I suppose you could call me taking time to blog communicating, because I am trying to get my point across, but there is one thing that you must remember while blogging; blog for yourself and not for other people.

Now onto the fact that technology will most likely affect your future dining experience. 2011, a.k.a "Yearof the Tablet" brought popularity to another device; the tablet computer. The tablet could significantly affect the way restaurants operate by simplifying the process of looking at the menu, paying the bill and placing orders.

Before, you probably went to the restaurant, sat down, got handed a menu by a waiter and ordered. Now, it would be a lot simpler to have the menu displayed on the tablet and be able to select the items to learn more about them and add them to your order list.

I would much rather order this way. I feel it would be really simple to do and even people, who are not as technology savvy as ourselves would be able to use it easily.

To pay, on the other hand, there are all ready apps available on app stores on all platforms. Google Wallet was an app that made paying simpler. There are also add-ons for popular smartphones like the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy S that allow a user to swipe a cedit card and extract a preset sum of money.

This is particularly useful if you are having a business meeting and find it hard to split the bill. You can simply swipe the card and money is removed.

These are only a few of my own ideas and researched tips. If you have any more, please tell us by contacting the team (even if you just want to say hi) at team@thegeekpanel.com
