New Wacom Bamboo Pen Review

You may remember the review we did a few months ago on the Wacom Bamboo Pen. Since that review, Wacom has released several new models of Bamboo Tablet including the Capture, Connect and Create.

TheGeekPanel has recently purchased a new edition Bamboo Create or Bamboo Pen. Here is our verdict:

Overview
The Wacom Bamboo Pen CTL-470/K is a graphics tablet. It can be used by an artist, video editor, musician, photo editor or anyone looking for an ergonomic alternative to the standard mouse.

The Bamboo Pen is a great looking and great functioning device. With pressure sensitivity, a 10 inch tablet face and a pen with customizable hot-keys, the tablet offers many of the same features only available in top-end models.

Wacom has been producing these tablets for a long time. Over the years, their quality has risen no end.

Looks
With a nice matte black top with a shiny quarter to the left, this graphics tablet certainly looks good. The underside is lime green, as is the loop for the pen. The tablet's thicknes measures at less than an inch thick. It is extremely portable and could easily fit into your laptop carrying case.

Sitting on your desk next to your monitor, it will compliment you and blend even in an all-white environment.

Features
The tablet has a lot of great features. The pen has two buttons which you can customize to whatever you like. If you run Windows 7 or Vista, you can take full advantage of the tablet features like the Tablet Input Panel and Windows Journal.

The tablet is pressure sensitive and does not require any batteries at all. The pen runs on a special technology that only Wacom can offer. Because of the pen having no batteries, it is extremely light and comfortable to hold.

The tablet connects to your Mac or PC via a standard USB cable. The cable can detach from the tablet to make storage easier, if necessary.

Also included in the box is a special software download key. You can download the full version of ArtRage for free. All you have to do is register your tablet and follow the instructions on the card in the box.

Conclusion
I would highly recommend this device. To a blogger like myself, it is an asset to my collection of gadgets. Whenever someone comes into the office here at TheGeekPanel, I always get asked what that 'thin black slate' on my desk is. That comes to show that it could bring some attention your way.

The device retails from about £70 minimum in the UK. I would say that it is well worth the money. If you have any concerns, do not hesitate to leave a comment or contact us.
