How To Get Things Done...

I love GTD or, as you may know it, Getting Things Done. I love organizing a workflow, having a plan ready for me to follow he next day and other things of the sort.

Today, we have compiled a list of 5 tools to help you get things done.

1) Evernote
I love Evernote. It is a free note taking tool that llows you to, as it says on the tin, remember everything. We use it here at TheGeekPanel to brainstorm ideas and compile drafts for blog posts, before they are actually published on the web.

Evernote has clients on the Web, Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, Android and almost every other OS you can think of. If it does not have a client for your OS, there is still a fully functional, quick, clean and secure web interface for you to use.

You can download Evernote here.

2) Google Mail
Google Mail is one of my personal favourites. I use it every 10 minutes to check email. Again, Google Mail is free and "web based" and has an excellent spam filter.

GMail has lots of great features like integration with Google Docs, Google Calendar and Google Maps. For example, is someone send you a Microsoft Word file, you can open the file, edit it in Google Docs and Share it with anyone with an email address.

Is you are sent an email from Sue saying "Dinner is at 7:30pm at Jone's Burger Palace, New York" Google will ask you if you want to add that to the calendar and get directions from Google Maps.

I love GMail. It is a great email client and PIM (personal information manager).

3) Google Docs
Google Docs is my favourite office suite. I no longer have an office suite installed on my computers, because of Google's service.

Google Docs is essentially a whole web-based collaboration and office suite. You can do anything you can do in Microsoft Office or iLife. There is a presentation program, a word processor, a spreadsheet application and even a forms application.

All of my paper-work is done using Google Docs, as well as the polls we run for TheGeekPanel.

4) Dropbox
Dropbox is a great piece of software. It allows you to transfer files between computers, phones and tablets of all operating systems. You can store your work on Dropbox and continue with your work on the go.

To start with, you get 2gb of free space, though if you go through our link, you can get an extra 500mb. After linking your FaceBook, Twitter and other accounts to DropBox, you can get about 3.5gb. Then you can invite friends and get even more space.

You can share files and folders with others and access them via the web.

5) Google Reader
Google Reader allows you to see, add and browse your RSS feeds. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a great way to get content out there like our blog RSS feed or a Podcast.

You can customize Google Reader to your needs.

We hope that these tools will help you Get Things Done.
